Thru the ball
Next two videos are valuable. You won't find a detailed explanation of how to go thru the ball anywhere but here...
Really try to picture a half circle move thru the ball. And how would you make it? The ball goes straight, the club, no.
The right side thru the ball.
The hitting area is not a straight line.
Thru the ball: 1) always go 'around', 2) maintain the Y Shape.
1st, check out your swing. 2nd, get into on-course thinking by letting your swing work for you.
Good structure practice. In addition, good for a general warmup, making sure the body and shoulder turn gets the club to the top, rather than pick-ing it up with the arms or simply placing it in position.
Thanks to Al Geiberger, Mr 59, this training aid called The Angel helped mold my concept of The Y Shape. Thanks Al...
The golf swing is an entire body move. The arm swing works with the trunk of the body. The trunk of the body works with the legs. Trying to muscle the ball with the arms makes plane and square difficult. Here, how to fix a couple plane and square problems.
Ball to Finish: the most overlooked part of the swing. What happens here is not just a result of hitting the ball but fully 1/3 of the swing which must be performed purposefully.
My favorite exercise! From the ball, the clubhead tracks slightly inside the target line while the clubface opens then closes. Rather than consciously 'directing' this action, swing to predetermined 3/4 positions and watch the ball go straight.
For consistency, set the clubhead first.
